National Campaign Day March 11

Members were out and about in Debenham, Framlingham and Eye today, talking to people about the impact of Wednesday’s budget, and how Tory economic policies aren’t tackling the problems facing ordinary people.

This is the fourth Campaign Day we’ve organised in CSNI in recent months. We are always pleased by the positive responses we get from people on the street.

AGM and all-member meeting 22 Febraury

The AGM took place in Otley Village Hall .  Details of the Executive for this year will be updated on the website shortly.

The AGM was followed by an ordinary meeting, discussing campaign priorities for the County Council Elections.

Seven Labour candidates for Divisions in our Constituency were at the meeting.

Members’ poll on Labour’s response to the ‘Article 50’ bill

We asked CSNI members at the end of January – via an on-line poll –  if they thought Labour MPs should:

A) vote for triggering Article 50

B) vote for triggering Article 50 but only if Labour’s conditions are met (see: http://press.labour.org.uk/post/156404587259/labour-tables-targeted-amendments-to-article-50)

C) vote against triggering Article 50 and campaign to remain in the EU

The votes were as follows:
For Article 50 unconditionally 16%
For Article 50 only if Labour’s conditions are met 39%

Members meeting in Eye, 26 January

A group of members and supporters from the Eye area got together informally on Thursday evening in Eye Town Hall , to talk about issues of local concern, and the wider political picture.

They aim to go on meeting regularly.

Similar meetings are in the pipeline for Kesgrave and Framlingham areas.

National Campaign Day 21 January – NHS and Social Care

Members campaigning in Kesgrave and in Eye on 21 January

CSNI members braved the near-zero temperatures to campaign around the Constituency.  Groups gathered in Kesgrave ( Penzance Road shops) , Framlingham Market Square , and Eye to leaflet passers-by.  Others did door-to-door leafleting

The public responded positively to a Labour Party presence.

Annual General Meeting (AGM) 22 February 2017

The Constituency’s AGM will take place in Otley Village Hall, Chapel Rd, IP6 9NT on Wednesday 22 February, 7pm.  This short business meeting will be followed by an all-member meeting to discuss our campaign priorities for the County Council elections in May.

Pre-Christmas Socials

On Thursday 8th December members met informally in the north of the constituency in Fressingfield, and in the south east at the Railway Hotel, Foxhall Road.  A convivial evening, and an opportunity for new members to meet others – and a chance for potential council candidates to find out more about getting involved.

Caring for the NHS – a successful campaign day

On 26th November CSNI members too part in our National Campaign Day to protect the NHS. We leafletted in Kesgrave, Framlinghan, Debenham and Eye. There was a very positive response from the public.
